PRESS STATEMENT: CIAG Grateful for Minister’s Legal Vindication

The Cape Independence Advocacy Group (CIAG) is grateful to the Acting Minister of Police for his confirmation that our peaceful pursuit of Cape Independence is aligned with lawful and democratic processes.

The Cape Independence Advocacy Group (CIAG) is grateful to the Acting Minister of Police, Firoz Cachalia, for his confirmation that our peaceful pursuit of Cape Independence is aligned with lawful and democratic processes, and that our actions cannot be deemed a risk to national stability.

The CIAG is also grateful to the Minister of Home Affairs, Leon Schreiber, for refusing to allow the political persecution of our co-founder, Phil Craig, by emphasising that he would not allow our political opponents to weaponise South Africa’s immigration system.

The CIAG reaffirms that the Western Cape people legally enjoy an unquestionable and inalienable right to self-determination, which is affirmed by both international law and the South African Constitution, via which they are entitled to freely determine their political status and to pursue their economic and social development according to the policy they have freely chosen.

About CIAG: We are a non-profit organisation committed to democratically, lawfully and peacefully obtaining independence for the collective peoples of the Western Cape. Support our work: please spread the word, register for our newsletter and donate.
